Patient Advocacy : Oncology

• Introduction

• The Oncology Patient Advocacy department is committed to meeting the needs of patients by
  providing funding for activities that advance the objectives of non-profit patient advocacy
  organizations.
  
  Applications for funding, educational grants and other funding requests can be submitted via
  the NGCS system by logging onto www.ngcs.novartis.com. Approval of similar activities in
  previous years does not guarantee future approval.
  

• Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• 501(c)3, 510(c)4, or 501(c)6 nonprofit organization

• Breast Cancer
• Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)
• Iron Overload
  • - Sickle Cell Anemia
  • - Thalassemia
  • - Myelodysplastic Syndromes
• Leukemia/Lymphoma
• Lung Cancer
• Melanoma
• Basal Cell Carcinoma
• Soft Tissue Sarcoma
• Multiple Myeloma
• Neuroendocrine Tumors
• Ovarian Cancer
• Other
• General Education for Patients with Rare Diseases
  • - Acromegaly
  • - Cushing's disease
  • - Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
• Renal Cell Cancer

• Key Factors for Grant Consideration

• Clear goals of improvement to patient care
• Needs assessment and outcome measures
• Therapeutic areas of interest to Novartis Oncology
• Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines
• Reasonable detailed budget
• Request submitted at least 60 calendar days prior to the event/program start date

• Examples of Requests that Will Not Be Considered

• Funding to individuals
• Operating expenses (e.g. salaries, benefits)
• Exhibits and displays fees
• Personal travel
• Requests that include activities such as smoking and/or gambling
• Requests which include spa or resort activities
• Textbooks or equipment related requests
• Requests for programs that are already in progress
• Requests for building funds
• Treatment specific education

• Oncology Patient Advocacy accepts funding requests for:

  • - Fundraising events, galas, and balls
  • - Health policy initiatives
  • - Dues
  • - Walks, runs
